Notifications
Use the header bell and the notification center to keep up with document processing, member changes, security, and usage, and choose which channels deliver each category.
Flux notifies you when something needs your attention — a document finishes processing, a new member joins, or your usage nears its limit. You can read notifications from the bell in the top-right header and from the dedicated notification center, and some notifications can also reach you by email. You decide which kinds of notifications arrive through which channel in notification settings.
The header notification bell shows notifications for the current organization on organization screens. If you belong to several organizations, switching organizations shows only that organization's notifications. Account-level security notifications (for example, two-factor authentication enabled) also occur, and the notifications page on a non-organization screen shows your notifications across all organizations together.
Where notifications appear
Notifications reach you through three paths. In-app notifications arrive in real time, while email is added only for a few important notifications.
Notification bell
The bell icon in the top-right header. A red badge shows the count of new notifications you haven't looked at yet (unseen) (99+ when there are more than a hundred), and clicking it opens a dropdown with your latest notifications.
Notification center
Selecting **View all notifications** at the bottom of the dropdown opens the dedicated notification center. Category filters, a Load more button (to load additional notifications), and archiving let you work through past notifications as well.
A few important notifications, such as document processing failures, can be delivered by email alongside the in-app notification. You turn email on or off per category in notification settings.
Read and archive states
Each notification flows through unread → read → archived. Unread notifications are marked with a blue dot. The bell's red badge, however, counts not unread notifications but the new notifications you haven't looked at yet (unseen). Opening the bell dropdown once clears the badge, but each notification stays unread until you click it directly.
| State | Meaning | How it changes |
|---|---|---|
Unread | A notification you haven't clicked yet. Marked with a blue dot. (The bell badge counts unseen, not unread.) | Clicking the notification or 'Mark all read' marks it as read. |
Read | A notification you've already opened. It stays in the list but loses the highlight. | Clicking the notification, or the 'Mark all read' button in the dropdown. |
Archived | A notification removed from the list. It is for tidying up and differs from deletion. | Select 'Archive' next to an item in the notification center. |
Click to mark as read
Clicking a notification in the bell dropdown or the notification center marks it read automatically and takes you to the related screen.
Mark everything read at once
Selecting Mark all read at the top of the bell dropdown marks every unread notification in that organization as read in one step.
Tidy up with archive
Selecting Archive on the right of an item in the notification center removes it from the list. Use it to keep new notifications from mixing with handled ones.
Use the filters at the top of the notification center to jump between All / Unread / Tasks / Collaboration / Security / Usage / Admin. This helps when catching up on a backlog by category.
Kinds of notifications you receive
Notifications are grouped into categories by their nature. When several notifications about the same target (for example, one document) occur in a short window, they are grouped to avoid noise.
| Category | Typical notifications | Who receives them |
|---|---|---|
Tasks | Document processing completed or failed, knowledge graph built, image caption completed or failed | Organization members involved in the task |
Collaboration | New member joined, role changed, member removed | Organization admins or the member concerned |
Security | Two-factor authentication enabled, API key created or deleted | The account owner or organization members |
Usage | A warning when usage approaches its limit | Organization admins |
Admin | Organization suspended or reinstated | Organization members |
Most notifications link to a related screen. Document notifications open the document, member notifications open member management, and usage notifications open the usage screen. Just click the notification.
Choosing channels in settings
In Settings > Notifications you can turn delivery channels on or off per category. Preferences apply per category (Tasks, Collaboration, Security, Usage, Admin), with in-app and email selected separately.
Open notification settings
Go to Settings in the sidebar, then open the Notifications tab.
Toggle channels per category
In each category row, turn the In-app and Email checkboxes on or off. Changes save immediately.
Confirm your settings
A confirmation message appears when a change is saved. From then on, notifications arrive only through the channels you selected.
In-app
On-screen notifications shown in the bell and notification center. They arrive in real time.
Notifications delivered to your account email. Not every notification supports email; you can toggle it only for those that do.
Some admin and security notifications, such as organization suspension or reinstatement, are always delivered by email too and cannot be turned off — a safeguard so critical news is never missed. Account and verification emails, such as password reset and email verification, are always sent regardless of notification settings.
Frequently asked questions
It is the number of new notifications you haven't looked at yet (unseen) in the current organization. Opening the bell dropdown once clears the badge, but each notification is only marked read when you click it directly. Above a hundred it shows as 99+.
Notifications are shown per organization, so check that you switched to the organization where the notification occurred. Also, turning off the in-app channel for a category hides it from the screen. Review your channels in Settings > Notifications.
No. Archiving clears an item from the list for tidiness; the notification data itself is not removed. There is no separate permanent-delete feature, and archiving is enough to keep things organized.
For most categories you can turn off the email channel in Settings > Notifications. However, a few critical notifications like organization suspension or reinstatement, along with account and verification emails, are always sent and cannot be turned off.
It opens the related screen for that notification. For example, a document notification opens the document and a member notification opens member management, and the notification is marked read as you go.
